Guided tour of Monumental Ronda

Discover the Tajo canyon, with thousands of years of history

The essentials

  • A tour of the monuments of Ronda: we take you to the town’s must-see historical sites.
  • Take the tour at your own pace, with time to contemplate the monuments and take some pictures comfortably.

Ronda captivates everyone who visits it.

If you don’t believe it, take a look at the works of Orson Welles and Ernest Hemingway, who found here an ideal place to give free rein to their artistic interests.

But what is it about Ronda that makes it so fascinating?

Firstly, its location on top of an impressive 100-metre high canyon. Secondly, its display of history and art, which you will notice as soon as you arrive.

We will start our guided tour of the Monumental Ronda in Plaza del Socorro. Here we will be welcomed by the father of the Andalusian homeland, Blas Infante.

It was here, in Ronda, that the use of our regional symbols was approved in 1918: the white and green flag you can see waving next to the triumphant Hercules.

We will continue along the main shopping street: Carrera Espinel, more commonly known as Calle de La Bola.

If you ask the locals, nobody will be able to tell you about the origin of this unique name, but we will. There are different theories, though, so you can tell us which one you think is true!

Down the street we’ll find the Ronda Bullring, where bullfighting families such as the Romero and the Ordóñez families have celebrated (and continue to celebrate) glorious afternoons.

Get ready for the main course: Puente Nuevo (the New Bridge).

We’ll tell you everything you need to know as we look out over the different balconies overlooking the Tajo canyon.

The views of the Serranía de Ronda are truly breathtaking.

Finally, we will walk to the Mondragón Palace, of Mudéjar-Renaissance style, now home to the Municipal Museum of Ronda.
